All current model Shimano 12 speed ‘wireless’ hydraulic levers (ST-R9270, ST-R8170, and ST-R7170) can only have their firmware updated using a WIRED connection at this point in time. There are two methods of getting this done with the DuraAce and Ultegra levers, and only one method with the new 105 Di2 levers. In this video I break out the expensive SM-PCE02 and perform a firmware update on my ST-R8170 Ultegra Di2 levers with the E-Tube Project Professional software.
