Van Rysel D500 V2 Smart Trainer In-Depth Review

The Van Rysel D500 V2 is a quiet, stable, Zwift-ready smart trainer that gets the basics right, but a closer look reveals some significant rough edges. In this in-depth review, I test its power accuracy, ERG performance, cadence reporting, virtual shifting, thermal drift, ride feel, and free-ride responsiveness. While the D500 V2 performs sufficiently on the surface, it frequently fails to meet its own claimed accuracy specification. Add its other performance issues and limited feature set, and it becomes difficult to recommend against the increasingly capable competition at this price point.
