DJI Osmo Action 4 Review // What’s to Like? What’s NOT to Like?

The DJI Osmo Action 4, the latest sports action camera from DJI, touted to rival or even outperform GoPro’s latest offerings. With these bold claims, I put this camera to the test in various conditions – under the sun, on sand, and even in the rain – to see how it performs during my recent biking adventures. If you’re eager for a quick and direct comparison against the GoPro Hero 11, skip ahead to the 9:05 mark for an in-depth quality (reality) check.

  1. Has there been any update on the Jitter issue from DJI? Seems a really fundamental flaw and the video highlights how bad it is. It basically makes this a no-go as an action camera. I’m amazed that this isnt highlighted more for unsuspecting buyers.

    1. DJI asked me to send over the raw Action 4 and HERO 11 footage for further analysis. It’s not something that has been highlighted in many reviews as a LOT of them are paid reviews. Showcasing the flaws isn’t exactly good advertising. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what they can do in firmware.

  2. Yes I see you’d mentioned this in your video. I guess it may be lip service on the part of DJI asking for the footage. Googling I think this was apparent on the Action 3, so I get this feeling that they can’t fix it in firmware if it was never sorted in the previous generation. A shame as if this issue was present I would have considered it as an action camera.

Recent rumors on the GoPro 12 seem to point to lack luster improvements, (aka rebadged GoPro 11) so quite a perplexing time for choosing a new action Cam. In it’s current state the Action 4 is incapable of being a true action camera.

Great and concise content Shane btw. Keep up the excelllent work.
