The Bryton Gardia ANT+ Radar/Tail Light had a troubled beginning, as it was released with an initial firmware that fell short of expectations as a cycling ‘safety’ device. However, after undergoing months of rigorous testing and retesting, Bryton seems to have resolved the majority of the issues plaguing their ANT+ Radar. In this video, I delve into the product’s history, discuss the early challenges I encountered, and conduct comprehensive real-world tests, pitting it against the Garmin Varia RTL515 to assess its performance.

Hi Shane, thanks for your review. Just wondering if you have updated your unit’s firmware to RO.6.16 and what your impressions have been? I purchased the unit recently and was really impressed with it. However, after updating the firmware, I’ve seen a significant number of false negatives and it also clears cars as passed when they are still behind. Keen to hear your experience.
I’d like to hear too. That’s totally unacceptable. I can’t bring myself to buy a Garmin Varia as it’s still usb micro 😨
I recently picked one up and noticed the same issue, lots of false negatives. This mainly happens at nights when i travel through suburbia with lots of street lights, is this common with all radars or just the Gardia?
