Wahoo KICKR BIKE – The latest release from Wahoo at Eurobike 2019. Based on years of smart trainer experience this looks to be the most fully featured Smart Bike released to date.
After a few weeks on the Wahoo KICKR Bike here’s my take on the ride experience using both SIM and ERG mode. I throw down some hill attacks and flat road sprints to try and trip up the flywheel. I look at the unit stability, noise, ride feel, data accuracy, and more. Note that I’m using 3s power smoothing within Zwift so the watts on screen are obviously appear laggy in sprints.

I have a question on the Kickr Bike, if you would take the time to answer I would be very grateful…
As this is version 1 of the kickr bike what developments can be made and how quickly? Specifically is this going to be a purchase that in two years time i wish i had waited for series 2?
I am 50/50 on it and will certainly test the bridge under the carriage before buying.

G’day Ian. It’s impossible to tell what v2 of these bikes will look like, or when they’ll arrive. I think the Kickr Bike is the most complete/advanced at the moment with the tilt, gearing customisation, expansion port (for TT shifters they say), and the Shimano-like levers/brakes.
Test ride if you can. That’s the best way to see if these are for you.
I’m probably going to buy the Kickr bike this winter. Would it work with a KOM rocker plate or should I put it on a flat surface? I currently use a Kickr Core trainer on the KOM plate.
