InPeak PowerCrank (Gen 2) Power Meter: New Firmware // Details // Data Review

The InPeak PowerCrank Gen II power meter receives an important firmware update today addressing a number of issues identified in the Lama Lab.

I’ve covered this power meter a few months ago, but this update made the experience worth revisiting.

Type: Single Sided Power Crank (Shimano Ultegra 6800) 
Frame Compatibility: 10mm between crankarm and frame.
Power Source: Battery CR2032
Battery Life: 200hrs (claimed)
ANT+ / Bluetooth Smart. (BLE unit management has pin code!)
Power Accuracy: +/-2%- Max wattage: 2000W
Cadence Range: 20-200rpm (accelerometer / no magnet required)
Active Temperature Compensation: Yes!
Operating Temperature: -5°C to +50°C
Weight: +12g to crank arm.
Waterproofing Certification: IP67
Firmware upgradable: Yes. Via Mobile App (Bluetooth)

  1. I am at a crossroads regarding power meters. I have a powerpro on a Giant Defy Advanced Pro 0 and I see that the right reading is probably high as you point out. At 71 years old I want to improve fitness to be able to do century rides on road and gravel. I am considering changing out the powerpro crank set for the Rotor 2inpower. My left leg is more powerful than the right and I am working on correcting so I believe I need to measure both legs. Comments recommendations?

  2. A set of AssiomaDUO would be a lot cheaper than the Rotor option… and the 2INPower read a little high indoors for both myself and DCRainmaker for unknown reasons.

    I bought the Inpeak power meter also based on your review. It was the best budget option. Unfortunately, I cannot compare it with other power meters, however, so far it seems that the watts are correct.
